How to stay calm

When you are stressed or upset, you start  breathing fast, very often from your chest and throat. How do we calm ourselves down in this situation?

Aim to breathe from your diaphragm. Place one hand on your lower abdomen just below your ribs and one on your chest. Then start to Inhale slowly through your nose. Breathe in slowly mentally counting 1 to 7.  Feel your belly expand along with your chest as you inhale. This is what we call diaphragmatic breathing. Hold your breath for 7 counts. Then, slowly exhale (counting 7) through your nose, keeping your mouth slightly open.

Do 7 to 10 rounds of this process every few minutes.
